(AP) ? A Polish opera house has performed Mozart's Requiem ? a funeral piece ? in front of the Culture Ministry in Warsaw to protest cuts to its budget.

The Chamber Opera's orchestra, choir and soloists performed Tuesday to the hearty applause of hundreds of people. A large banner saying, "Minister, Only You Can Save the Chamber Opera," hung above the artists.

They handed a ministry official a letter signed by some 20,000 people asking Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski to secure funds for the opera. Otherwise, they say, it will have to close in the summer.

There was no immediate reply from the ministry, which is instituting cuts as a broader government cost-reduction effort.

The 50-year-old Warsaw-based opera is known for its annual festivals of all of Mozart's opera compositions.

XanGo Review And Warning To Individuals Building Online | Free ...

This is an addition to my first XanGo review. I am somebody who is serious about network marketing, and home based business. This industry has truly been remarkable for me over the last 9 years.

As I said in my initial XanGo review, I think the company and product are both terrific, and I still do. However, a recent personal encounter has brought me to post this addition.

Back in 2004 to 2006 I was an active XanGo distributor, and I built a team well over 1200 active distributors there. Not a ton compared to what I?ve done since, but still a respectable network that paid me a decent passive income for several years after.

I?m sure many other companies have done this also, but this is my first experience and truly feel anybody considering joining and building a XanGo business needs to know this up front prior to putting in their time and energy.

It seems XanGo is starting to actually ?restrain? their distributors to the point they cannot do much of anything outside of XanGo without getting into trouble with the company.

I?m not sure about yourself, but I personally got into this specific industry for freedom, and I believe that most other networkers would probably agree, we HATE being controlled. If that wasn?t the case we?d simply just stay at our jobs and do everything our supervisor tells us, right?

Well, over the past year or so I?ve really begun to build out the following blog to help other folks make much more money and make better decisions on joining certain companies they are considering.

At first XanGo informed me that my review was making medical claims which were against their policies. Even though I have not been actively building for over 5 years, I was still an active rep earning a check every month from what I built in the past.

I was happy to remove the few lines that were making claims, and I responded to their request so maybe they?d unsespend my distributorship. Nope?

They responded that in order for me to comply with their policies I could not have ANY other company reviews or mentions on my blog. In other words I could NOT tell people anything about any other company if I wanted to be a XanGo distributor. I also could not be a part of any other program that offers an affiliate program, even if it was a program like My Lead System Pro that actually helps individuals build their network marketing business, no matter which one it is.

Here is an exact copy of those policies:

=============================

Section 2 Obligations of a Distributor and Managing a Distributorship

D. Offerings. A Distributor may not offer or promote any non-Company plans, incentives, opportunities, or non-approved Sales Tools in conjunction with the promotion of Products.

=============================

In other words, if you want to be a XanGo distributor, you cannot market anything else, while or even after you stop actively building. I know and understand many companies have these policies, but it appears that XanGo is enforcing them very heavily.

Even though NONE of my company reviews are actually ?promoting? those companies as a distributor, they don?t care. For example, I wrote reviews on ACN, MonaVie, and other companies which I?m not, and never have been a rep for. But that doesn?t matter, in order for me to remain a XanGo rep and keep earning the residual revenue I worked hard to build, they require me to eliminate EVERYTHING that mentions other companies.

Overall I still believe that XanGo is a sound company and a great business for those looking for a nutritional business to build locally doing home meetings or face to face meetings. But for those who want to build online, utilizing the power of the internet, and using third party training platforms like My Lead System Pro, be extremely careful what you do and say online, XanGo is watching and policing you.

Visit XanGo Review if you?re ready to see how the top leaders build their network marketing business. Our goal with this XanGo Review is to help you succeed.

(AP) ? Florida heads into the NCAA tournament as college baseball's top team.

The Gators appreciate the honor, but they're interested only in finishing No. 1 at the College World Series.

"I think that we have a good team," coach Kevin O'Sullivan said. "I think that we had a good year. I'd agree with everybody that I don't think we have played our best yet, which is encouraging."

Florida (42-18) was selected Monday as the top seed for the 64-team tournament and will host one of 16 four-team, double-elimination regionals that begin Friday.

"That was a very close vote," said Kyle Kallander, chairman of the Division I baseball committee. "The committee really discussed at length who deserved to be that No. 1 overall. There were several deserving teams."

The other national seeds, in order, are: UCLA, Florida State, Baylor, Oregon, North Carolina, LSU and two-time defending College World Series champion South Carolina.

"We had four teams that were in serious consideration for that last top national seed, that No. 8 seed," Kallander said. "It was very competitive in the evaluation process."

Kallander said the Gators' overall body of work ? including a 21-10 record against top 25 teams ? put them in front of the field.

History has not been kind to the No. 1 overall seeds, though. Only once has a top seed gone on to win the College World Series: Miami in 1999, the first year the NCAA went to its current tournament format.

"Obviously, this is a great time of the year for everybody," said O'Sullivan, whose team opens against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion Bethune-Cookman (34-25). "We're excited to be in it. We're excited to be home."

The Gamecocks (40-17) are trying to join the 1970-74 Southern California squads as the only teams to win three or more consecutive national titles. South Carolina opens against Manhattan (33-25), the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament champion.

Florida and South Carolina are among a tournament field-leading eight Southeastern Conference teams, including Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

The Atlantic Coast Conference is second with seven teams: Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Virginia.

The 16 regional winners move on to the best-of-three super regionals. Those eight winners advance to the College World Series, which begins June 15 in Omaha, Neb., at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.

Miami (36-21) is in the tournament for the 40th straight year, extending its own record, while Florida State is making its 35th consecutive appearance. Dayton (31-28) and Samford (39-21) are making their tournament debuts, while Valparaiso (35-23) will play in a regional for the first time since 1968.

"I don't think our guys will be intimidated at all," said Valparaiso coach Tracy Woodson, a former major leaguer. "We've already played some great teams on our schedule this year."

Among those not in this year are Texas (30-22), which last missed out in 1998, and Utah Valley (47-12), which led Division I in wins but had a low RPI. Kallander said both were among 12 schools considered for the last couple of spots.

Utah Valley plays in the Great West Conference, which doesn't receive an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. The Wolverines won 40 of their last 41 games, and 45 of their last 49.

"We've done everything we can to control our destiny," coach Eric Madsen said after Utah Valley won its third straight Great West tournament. "Forty out of 41, that's incredible."

Kallander, commissioner of the Big South Conference, said the lack of quality non-conference opponents was a key factor in the Wolverines being left out.

"They did very well against that schedule, so what you've got to do is go out in your non-conference schedule and schedule stronger, and of course, you have to have some success against that schedule," Kallander said. "They did have a couple of good wins, no doubt, and scheduled a few very good teams in the schedule, but it wasn't quite enough for the committee."

Two teams with losing records made the field of 64 ? Creighton (26-28) and Sacred Heart (25-30) ? by winning their conference tournaments.

WHODUNIT ? AND HOW? Crime writer Peggy Blair hits the big time ...

A stroke of good luck led Peggy Blair to a solid agent with great connections. In the wake of her successful first foray into the world of fiction, the mystery writer offers an insider?s look at the trials and tribulations of getting a first book published? By Mark Bourrie

Peggy Blair thought she had pretty thick skin. After three decades working high-stress jobs as a prosecutor, Aboriginal rights lawyer, and trainer for mediators in the post-war Balkans, she believed she could take her knocks. But she says nothing could have prepared her for the harsh ? and sometimes downright nasty ? world of book publishing.

In mid-life, Blair decided it might be fun to write a cop thriller. It should be a breeze, she thought. After all, she had read thousands of them over the years and knew how they were structured and crafted. She had even written a previous book, albeit non-fiction, that had been published by a prestigious press (Lament for a First Nation explored an Aboriginal fishing rights dispute in southern Ontario). And so she looked forward only with anticipation as she sat down at her computer in the spring of 2009 to craft her first novel. It turned out that writing the book was the easy part.

For years, the busy lawyer had spent her time away from the office reading cop thrillers. They provided both entertainment and escape. But over time, she began to find the stories less satisfying. She felt as if she were simply reading the same story over and over. ?After reading thousands of mystery novels, I was looking for something different ? characters and settings and a story that stood apart.?

She began envisioning her own novel, imagining her own cast of interesting characters and looking to Old Havana as a setting. (The area retained a sense of mystery, she felt, because so very few English-speaking writers have used Communist Cuba as a backdrop to their fictional works. That, of course, is in large part because the U.S. embargo has meant most American writers and tourists have never had the opportunity to visit.) For some publishers, the American reading public?s unfamiliarity with Cuba would likely be a deal breaker, but Blair was confident in her setting and had no intention of rethinking her decision to use Havana as the backdrop for her debut.

?Sometimes I look back and I think Cuba picked me,? Blair says over coffee at her Westboro home. ?My daughter, Jade, was home that Easter. I wasn?t working at the time, and she asked me what I would do. I remember replying, ?I think I?ll write a novel.? And she gave that eye roll that goes with being in your early 20s. Then the words about Cuba popped into my mind.? Blair had recently spent time in Old Havana ? a far different place from the isolated all-inclusive resorts that are so familiar to most Canadian tourists. ?Everything?s old and disintegrating. Things are collapsing. It?s a big slum. That made it all much more interesting than sitting on a beach. We had this amazing chance to know the locals and get introduced to Santer?a [an Afro-Cuban religion that would come to play an important role in her book?s plot].?

In The Beggar?s Opera, Blair?s protagonist is Ricardo Ramirez, an inspector in charge of the Havana Major Crimes Unit of the Cuban National Revolutionary Police. His problem? The troubling case of a boy who is found raped and murdered in the tourist district. What?s more troubling is the suspicion that a foreigner might be the killer. Enter Mike Ellis, a vacationing Canadian cop who was seen talking to the young beggar the night before his body was found. The stage is set for battle as two strong-willed law experts are pitted against each another ? at least in the beginning.

It took Blair just a month to write the book, and in the summer of 2009, she started sending out query letters to agents. She knew that book deals tend to be made by literary agents, rather than publishers, so she crafted a pitch she hoped would catch the attention of busy agents. (A recent survey of authors by fiction writer Jim C. Hines found that a typical published fiction writer struggles for 10 years and throws away three completed manuscripts before getting that first book deal. Most fiction novels never get published at all.)

Blair says she had to adjust quickly and eventually learned to cope with the rejection. Though some agents read the manuscript, intrigued by the book?s setting, the rejections started piling up. And though she had heard that it wasn?t unusual for a debut novelist to get rejected hundreds of times, Blair says it was still hugely humbling. At first, she says, she felt that she, rather than her book, was being turned down. ?Writing is personal, so a rejection is like throwing your baby out into the traffic,? Blair explains. ?I felt like I was running naked down the street. You put in all this time and effort not knowing if it?s going to make money, get published, or just end up in a drawer somewhere.?

As a veteran of the working world, Blair tried to equate looking for a job with attempting to get published but found, to her dismay, that having her book rejected felt much more personal. ?When you go to a job interview, everyone?s trying to be bland and inoffensive. You?re dressed up. They?re dressed up. They lob soft questions. But with a book, this is you. Everything that?s in the book came from your head. If somebody hates it, they don?t like the way you think.

?You?re putting all this between the covers for someone to judge in a very intense, personal fashion. I?m not my characters. They?re a lot different from me. But they came out of my personal experiences and imagination.?

About 70 percent of agents never even acknowledged Blair?s queries. About eight percent asked to see the full manuscript, and half of those offered real feedback. One agent asked for major rewrites, then, after Blair worked for months, sloughed her off so quickly that she?s convinced he never even read the new version. She says only a very few offered useful criticism that she then used to improve the novel.

?I realized pretty quickly that the traditional route of sending query letters out to agents simply wasn?t working. After six or seven months of rejection, it occurred to me that it had become the definition of insanity, sending these letters off again and again and hoping for a better result.? That was when Blair decided it was time to stop sending out query letters and get back to the business of making a living.

Law no longer intrigued her, so she began a new career in real estate. And the novel? Though she wasn?t bothering to send it to agents anymore, she did fire it out to several literary competitions. It would be glory or death from here in. Her thriller would win a prize and possibly get picked up by a publisher or would end up in the bottom of a drawer. Her mailing list included such crime-writing competitions as the St. Martin?s Minotaur contest in the United States, Canada?s Unhanged Arthur Ellis Awards, and the British Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger Award. She heard nothing from the States, wasn?t nominated by the Canadians, and fully expected the British to turn her down too.

?The deadline for the Debut Dagger was supposed to be the end of March 2010, but it was well into May when I got the letter postmarked from England. By then, I had totally forgotten about the entry and I was thinking, Who do I know in England?? She opened the envelope with the handwritten address and read, ?I am delighted to inform you that you?ve been shortlisted for the CWA Debut Dagger Award.? Suddenly everything had changed.

Even before she left for England in July of 2010 to attend the award announcement, she was approached by UK agents who were now suddenly interested in seeing the book. But at the Debut Dagger, the overall mood remained gloomy. The recession and ebooks were mauling the publishing business, and though many agents were in attendance, few of them were looking to offer representation. Most encouraged her to pursue real estate. Blair?s book didn?t win.

She was ready to go home and give up on the idea of being an author. That?s when Blair stopped at the near-empty convention bar for one last drink and ran into Scottish crime writer Ian Rankin, he of the world-famous Inspector Rebus novels. They made some small talk, which morphed into a real conversation when Blair told Rankin she was from Ottawa. ?I had already had my glass of wine,? says Blair. ?So I wasn?t shy about asking him if I could take his picture for the Crime Writers of Canada web page. It turns out, he had been in Ottawa the week before, at Bluesfest with his son, which gave us a reason to talk.?

Rankin told Blair to call his publisher. The publisher then handed her off to Rankin?s British agent, Peter Robinson. ?It was startling how Ian Rankin?s name opened doors,? Blair says. Robinson, who was getting ready for the huge Frankfurt book fair, told Blair to send along her manuscript, though he warned that it would likely be a few months until he would have time to read it. She emailed it that Friday. Two days later Robinson called back and left a message saying he liked the book and wanted to represent her. ?It was the most compelling thing I?ve read in years,? he told Blair?s voice mail machine.

Success! The book was considered a hot title at Frankfurt, and rights were sold quickly to a German publisher even before the book fair began. Dutch and Norwegian publishers picked up the rights during Frankfurt, but there were no takers for the English rights until a month later, when Penguin offered Blair a two-book deal to publish in Canada. Less than two years after she launched her writing career, Peggy Blair was a fiction writer with a book deal.

Penguin put The Beggar?s Opera on the cover of its spring 2012 catalogue. The book was published this past February, and Blair?s Canadian agent, Anne McDermid, is now working hard to sell movie and television rights.

So what would Blair tell eager new writers looking for advice? Although perseverance and luck both played key roles in her success, Blair says her first suggestion would be to make sure their novel is as complete and polished as it can be before they start shopping it. It might be worth paying an editor to do a first go-through on the story before it?s sent out, she says.

Now that she has been published, Blair says, a number of writers have sent her manuscripts to peruse with the hope that she might help them find agents or publishers. ?I see the same mistakes over and over. I used to wonder how agents could decide whether a book worked just by reading the first few pages. Now I know.? She notes that even if a writer has great plot ideas and solid characters, an agent is not going to give them the time of day if the writing doesn?t draw them in. ?Agents don?t have time to edit. If it?s not in near-perfect condition, they?re not going to look at it.?

For her part, Blair has seen her star continue to climb in the aftermath of her fortuitous chance meeting with Ian Rankin. Solid backing certainly helps when it comes to getting heard above the general din. Even before it was published, The Beggar?s Opera was reviewed by Quill and Quire, an influential book trade publication. ?? the direct commanding tone sets the stage for the impressive police procedural that follows, one that is as much about a detective facing his own dementia-induced demons as a country in the midst of political turmoil,? the reviewer wrote.

Another positive review, this one in the National Post, described Blair?s debut novel as unfolding ?with an artless ease: the investigation and its developments are both compelling and convincing, a genuinely mysterious mystery that manages to both surprise and maintain its internal integrity.?

Not a bad send-out for a book that one agent dismissed as ?de trop.? Blair made it past that little insult the same way that she pushed her book into print: persistence. Her second book ? The King?s Indian, on bookshelves next February ? is already written, and she?s been told it?s even better than the first.

Golden Gate Bridge celebrates 75th birthday

Crowds gathered along San Francisco's waterfront Sunday, while San Francisco Bay was crowded with pleasure boats, tug boats and other vessels as the city celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Tens of thousands of people were expected to flock to the area to enjoy a number of events taking place along a section of waterfront stretching from Fort Point south of the bridge to Pier 39 along The Embarcadero.

At least several thousand people had gathered along the waterfront by Sunday afternoon, said Mary Currie, public affairs director for the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.

"Everyone is biking and walking and looks very happy," she said. "We're off to a great start."

San Francisco resident Daniel Sutphin and his family were among those in the crowd enjoying the day and the views of the bridge.

"It's such an iconic structure, depending on the day or the hour, it just looks like it changes continuously," Sutphin said as he walked through the Fort Point area with his wife and their three young children.

Slideshow: The Golden Gate Bridge (on this page)

Since it opened in 1937, more than 2 billion vehicles have crossed the 1.7-mile-long bridge named after the Golden Gate Strait, the entrance of water to San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean, and championed by engineer Joseph Strauss in the 1920s.

Because of the crowds expected and with no parking available near the bridge, officials were urging people to take mass transit to the events.

The California Highway Patrol was planning on shutting down traffic across the bridge from 9 p.m. through 10 p.m. for a monumental fireworks display set to take place over the bridge.

In a stark contrast to the thousands of celebrants, members of the group the Bridge Rail Foundation, an organization dedicated to stopping suicide jumps from the bridge, erected a display of 1,558 pairs of shoes, representing the number of people who died in leaps form the bridge since it opened in 1937.

"It's a symbol of how deep and serious this problem has been," said Paul Muller, a spokesman for the group. "We're still losing 30 to 35 a people a year off the bridge," he said.

Meanwhile on the water, Golden Gate ferries were running again after a one-day strike disrupted service across San Francisco Bay on Saturday.

Workers represented by the Inlandboatmen's Union walked off the job on a day strike, forcing the cancellation of ferries operated by Golden Gate between Larkspur, Sausalito and San Francisco.

PhotoBlog: Exploring the offbeat of the Golden Gate Bridge

The strike was called after nearly a year of negotiations over workloads and other matters, said Marina Secchitano, the union's regional director.

California Gov. Jerry Brown issued a statement Saturday evening, saying that he was appointing a board to investigate the strike, which, he claimed, created a disruption to public service.

Secchitano disputed the governor's claim, questioning the motivation to call for an investigation after a one-day strike. "(This is) an action to try to silence us," she said.

"They're counting on this process to back our membership off the issue," she said.

Ferry and union officials said service resumed Sunday when workers returned to work.

Japan?s Irie eyes Olympic swim revenge on Lochte

TOKYO, Japan (AFP) ?

Ryosuke Irie (R) is looking forward to the Olympics for an opportunity to avenge his loss to Ryan Lochte last year

Japan?s Ryosuke Irie (back), pictured here after finishing 2nd in the men?s 200m backstroke final of the FINA World Championships in Shanghai, in July 2011. Irie had to be satisfied with the silver medal behind Ryan Lochte (front), who clocked one minute 52.96 seconds to win the gold.

Japan?s Ryosuke Irie is looking forward to the London Olympics for an opportunity to avenge his loss to American Ryan Lochte in the men?s 200 metre backstroke last year.

At the world championships in Shanghai, Irie had to be satisfied with the silver medal behind Lochte, who clocked one minute 52.96 seconds to win the gold.

On Saturday at the Japan Open swimming championships, he was faster than Lochte at the 100m point before slowing down in the last 50m to win in 1:54.80, beating Kazuki Watanabe into second.

?I was finally able to set a new national lap time at the 100-metre mark. I swam very well until the 150-metre mark. I tried to spurt in the last 50 metres, but I couldn?t,? said Irie, 22.

?I think I proved that I improved a lot. I?m really looking forward to the future.

?If I?m slower than Lochte in the first half of the race, I?ll be beaten. So I must take the lead at the 100-metre mark. I want to race at my pace, not his,? added Irie, who also won the bronze in the 100m at the world championships.

Coach Taketoshi Michiura said: ?I saw him tired for the first time in eight years. He is all right until the 130-metre mark. He just needs to continue till the end.?

The University of Connecticut baseball team was ousted from the Big East Championship Saturday in Clearwater, Fla., after losing two games to the University of South Florida.

In the first game, which UConn lost 1-0, UConn sophomore lefthander Brian Ward of Milford allowed just one hit, but it was the only hit that mattered ? a home run by South Florida's Jimmy Falla in the top of the fourth.

USF senior righthander Derrick Stultz (9-1) pitched a complete game, giving up three hits, walking two and striking out four. Stultz this season has given up no runs and seven hits in 15 innings against UConn.

Ward (3-5) struck out six and walked four in his first start since facing USF on May 13. Junior righthander Pat Butler pitched 3? scoreless innings out of the bullpen in his third relief appearance of the season. He walked four and struck out three.

Falla had the only two hits of the game for the Bulls. He singled in the eighth, but was picked off first by catcher Joe Pavone. For the Huskies, junior second baseman LJ Mazzilli, Tom Verdi and left fielder Eric Yavarone all singled.

In the second game, a 2-1 win for South Florida, UConn struck first with a run in the sixth inning. Senior first baseman Tim Martin lined a two-out double off the wall in right and scored on a single past third by Mazzilli.

Freshman righthander Carson Cross, in his second start of the season for UConn, went 5 ? innings, giving up no runs on four hits and striking out one.

Junior righthander Dan Feehan came on in relief with two on and two out in the sixth and ended the inning on a groundball to first on just one pitch. In the seventh, things fell apart for Feehan (1-2) after a walk, base hit and balk put two in scoring position with nobody out. Two wild pitches by Feehan brought in the tying and winning runs.

UConn had a runner on second with no one out in the ninth but could not score.

The Huskies finished 31-27-1. The Bulls play St. John's Sunday at noon for the tournament title.

(AP) ? Actress Audrey Tautou, known for her sweet and light roles in such films as "Amelie," praised the late director Claude Miller as a "bright and passionate" filmmaker who helped her turn in a darker direction in his final film.

The French star plays a husband-poisoner in Miller's "Therese Desqueyroux," which closes the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday at a special screening celebrating the lauded New Wave filmmaker, who died last month of cancer at age 70.

The contemporary of Francois Truffaut, whose large body of work includes 1998's Cannes Jury Prize winner "Class Trip," helped Tautou to take on the role in the adaptation of Francois Mauriac's novel about a frustrated wife who slowly tries to kill her husband with arsenic to get freedom.

The gritty role, and Miller's acuity and patience, helped her unlock her inner dark side.

"It didn't exactly free me, but it did make more want to explore cinema even more," she said, in an interview with The Associated Press, wearing shades on a terrace overlooking the French Riviera. "I really liked the experience... I had to try to not be scared of Therese. I want to go to the darker side of humanity."

The film is set in the French region of Landes, near Bordeaux, where the young, cerebral Therese is forced to marry authoritative Bernard, played by Gilles Lellouche, whom she grows to despise.

The role is a far cry from "Amelie," the touching 2001 story of a shy Parisienne waitress who changes the lives of those around her through eccentric acts of kindness. That role shot her to stardom, but 10 years later, Tautou seized upon her "dream script" as an opportunity to grow up.

"I'm not the same woman I was when I was 22-years-old. I don't feel genuine in young ingenue parts any more. Therese led me to entirely new terrain," said Tautou.

She said Miller's talents remained with him right until he died.

"Claude really gave us a life lesson on the shoot of 'Therese.' When you see the film he made ? brilliant and unrelenting ? you think how crazy it is that a film like that could be made with such simplicity," Tautou said.

She recalled her last conversation with Miller in April. "Yes, I remember, yes," she said, with hesitation. "The thing is, right until the end his eyes would sparkle. He was so bright and passionate."

Tautou said she was deeply sad that Miller cannot grace the red carpet with her at the festival, but laughed and remembered something he said just before he succumbed to the illness.

"Ah, we'd talk about movies, about 'Therese.' Oh, we'd talk about Cannes! He said when we go to Cannes, we'll have to dress nicely."

Get The Home You Have Always Dreamed Of With These Helpful Tips

Take your time when doing demolition during a home renovation. Check for structural integrity in the wall cavity before you remove something. If electrical components are involved, you could make quite a mess.

Create a plan before starting a landscaping project to ensure that fits with the look of your home. Landscaping work that does not relate to your house or even clashes with it will be a waste of time and money, doing little to improve your home?s appearance.

Make sure your home improvement plans are well thought out to avoid any safety issues. It is worth spending more for the knowledge that it is done right. They will help keep your project safe and ensure proper installation of all components in your home improvement project.

Freestanding furniture is a great investment for your bedroom. Fitted furniture does have its advantages in terms of looks and space, but the problem is that it is not portable. Additionally, free standing units can be moved into different rooms in your house or sold for cash when you want to redecorate.

Add visual interest to your home by using drywall mud to texture walls. It?s easy to texture. Put the drywall mud on then use tools to give it texture. A stiff brush will work, as will a sponge, a fork and even a plastic bag. Anything that gives an interesting texture.

Put new floors in. It can be costly, but it?s worth it for the increased value of your home. By discarding outdated carpets or tiles in favor of hardwoods or ceramics, you will create a beautiful, durable floor that increases your home?s value.

If you sit on your chair cushions long enough, eventually they flatten. A way to get your cushions back to normal is to place them outside in the sunshine. The sun drys out the stuffing in the cushion and restores the bounce. Be aware that fabric color is subject to fading in the sun, so make sure to give those cushions a flip periodically.

To make a dreary or dated looking home feel vibrant and new, repaint the walls. A fresh coat of paint can completely change the look of a room. While it does not cost a lot to paint, your home?s value can greatly increase. Consider using lighter colors, complementing your home?s decor.

Prior to purchasing and installing blinds, make sure you measure carefully. Your installation will be easy when you have measured the window exactly and purchased blinds that are the right fit. Blinds come in many different sizes and different installation techniques.

When it comes to home improvement projects, you should begin by deciding which room you wish to begin in. Just improve different rooms gradually to save you some money and time. If you make your plans in advance, you can incorporate significant bargains into the process. Long-term planning can help you achieve great home improvement results on a modest budget.

A fresh coat of paint on the walls is a high-impact, low-cost update that is suitable for almost any room. Visit your local home improvement center to look at paint samples. Choose the ones that appeal to you and have fun. The neat thing about painting is that you can re-paint if you don?t like the results.

When working with a contractor, make an agreement for payments based on work completed, not time spent on the job. This allows you to check the quality of the work as the project progresses and avoid paying for work that is not done correctly.

When you look online, you will be able to find numerous video guides that give you step-by-step instructions on how to tackle certain tasks. An amazing number of people may have already solved the same problem you are dealing with and posted their solution online. By watching these videos, you can leverage off of the efforts of others who have dealt with the same problems.

Ask a professional about the condition of your current flooring before you buy new hardwood floors. Sometimes you might have natural and beautiful hardwood flooring under your current old flooring that just needs to be refinished. You will come out on top with a nicer floor, and save money!

Taking on a new home improvement project can be a daunting experience. The tips and information in this piece are great for helping you generate ideas and also for getting your house in top shape without tremendous aggravation.

How To Register A Domain Name In Five Simple Steps | Online ...

?

A well chosen domain name is the mark of a professional website. Anyone can register a domain name and it only takes a few minutes. This article aims to inform the reader of just how to register a domain name. The major steps in registering a domain name consist of choosing one, finding a domain registrar, registering the domain and finally pointing it to the appropriate name servers of a website.

The first step to registering a domain name is actually choosing one. A domain should fall into one of two major categories. It should either be keyword-centric of brand-centric. As far as the specifics of domain names go, they must start with a letter and they can be composed of numbers, letters or a combination of the two. Domain names may also have dashes.

Keyword-centric domains will be focused more on a certain keyword for search engine optimization purposes. Typically smaller websites use these types of domains. When choosing this type of domain to register, often times the exact match domain will be taken. If this happens, feel free to use dashes between words or a permutation of the previously taken keyword.

Brand-centric domain names will focus on making and selling a brand. Sometimes the keyword that the website owner wishes to focus on will be located in the domain name.

It is important to remember to avoid choosing trademarked or copyrighted phrases. The proper holders of each term can later file legal action and force the domain name to be given to them by a court if they are found to contain such a term.

The second step is to find a domain name registrar. There are several hundred companies that can offer the service of registering a domain name. Some companies are also cheaper than others.

The third step is to pick a domain extension and check to see if your chosen domain is available. If it isn?t, then another domain name will have to be chosen. The only exception to this is if the current owner of an already-owned domain feels like selling the rights to another person. Generally this involves a fair amount of cash compared to what it would cost to simply register a new domain name.

If one domain name is taken, try looking for the same name with a different domain extension. The recommended choices are ?.com?, ?.org?, ?.biz? and ?.net? for most business websites. Just about any top -level domain is available so long as the owner will let it be used. The only major top-level domains reserved for certain websites are ?.gov? and ?.edu? domains. The former is reserved for government websites and the latter for places of education like universities and schools.

The one word of advice towards top-level domains for a new domain is to stay away from ?.info? domains. These top-level domains may be much less costly than other domains, but that also makes them a target to be used by spammers. The last thing that a website owner would want is for their website to be grouped with spammers solely based on the top-level domain.

The fourth step is to actually register the available domain in question with the registrar. The registrar will generally have to be paid money to complete this action and should be paid for the number of years the registering party intends to keep the domain name. This also requires that the purchaser either put in valid personal information or arrange a private registration using the registrar. Either way, valid information is required in case a domain name dispute arises.

The last step in how to register a domain name is pointing the domain to a web host?s nameservers. This is done in order to resolve a name to an IP address and further an actual website. If the registering party of a domain does not have a website host, most registrars offer that service for a nominal monthly fee.

Online video ads have become the norm of Internet surfing. Businesses use online video ads to promote products, explain services, or talk about company news. Publishers get paid for promoting business videos with ads on their website. Internet surfers, on the other hand, are looking for any apps that allow for skipping online video ads.

After visiting so many sites, you start to get tired of seeing these video ads. You want to see the video, not watch an ad that?s even longer than the video as you wait for the desired content. Also, these ads place additional streaming time to every video. In this day and age where you pay for every kilobyte, megabyte, and gigabyte used for our Internet connection service, we don?t want to waste allotted data watching ads we have no interest in.

Ways to Skip Video Ads

The more online ads invade videos, the more people will want to skip video ads. There are certain ways you can try to avoid them depending on what type of format the video ad takes.

google_ad_channel = ?7940249670, ? + AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel;
google_language = ?en?;
google_ad_region = ?test?;

Ticker Ads

Some videos have tiny ads that run like a ticker at the bottom of the media player screen. Often you can find these ticker ads in YouTube videos. These aren?t as obtrusive as full-blown ads. But if you want to skip them anyway, you can move your mouse pointer to the top-right edge of the ticker. A small ?X? should appear that you can click on to close the ticker ad.

Full Screen Ad

When you have those full-blown video ads that run before the actual content, those are harder to avoid. You?ll find these types of ads commonly attached to news media video. If you want to try to skip ads like these, you can move the media player slider bar forward to a point where the news content starts. But you have to make sure the content has gone through the buffering stage and has fully loaded, or you may have problems getting the rest of the video to load.

Companies are taking advantage of people?s aversions to video ads to introduce new technology that allows you to skip ads by simple pressing on a tab. This software is dependent on the publisher and the video format.

Internet Users No Longer Forced To Watch Video Ads

The more advertisers try to force people to watch video ads, the more problems they will find with people refusing to watch their content. But some companies are taking the initiative with getting rid of the ads in their videos, or introducing software for skipping online video ads as this gives the video control back to the internet users.
