Romney praises American allies in Poland speech

WARSAW, Poland (AP) ? Mitt Romney is praising the people of Poland and asking them to stand in solidarity with their American allies.

The Republican presidential candidate says he and other Americans are inspired by Poland's opposition to a government-dominated economy. The campaign released excerpts of a speech Romney is set to deliver Tuesday morning, the final full day of his first overseas trip as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Romney has had a series of missteps during the tour. He questioned England's preparedness for the Olympics while in London. And he insulted Palestinians while in Israel by attributing differences in Israel's economic prosperity to "culture."

In his speech, Romney criticizes leaders in Syria, Venezuela and Russia, where he says "once-promising advances" in freedom have faltered.
