The number of international business trips made by UK residents has increased by 5 per cent over the last year.
Figures released today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that there were 6.98 million overseas business trips made by UK residents during the 12 months to the end of June 2012 ? up from a total of 6.62 million for the previous year.
This compares to a 2 per cent decline in the number of holidays being taken by UK residents over the same period to 36.5 million.
Overall overseas business trips have also risen by 5 per cent to 1.8 million over the three months to the end of June compared to the same period in 2011.
Overseas residents have also made more business trips to the UK over the last 12 months with a 3 per cent rise to 7.3 million and also a 5 per rise to 2 million in the period between April and June.
